Cookie policy

Last updated: 26 October 2026

This policy explains cookies and similar browser technologies used in connection with this portfolio website. It should be read alongside the Privacy policy.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser and sent with later requests to the relevant website. Local storage is another way for a website to keep information in your browser; unlike a cookie, it is not automatically sent with every request. UK rules on storing or accessing information on a device can apply to both.

A network request to load a font, image or script is not itself the same as setting a cookie, although the service receiving it normally receives your IP address and other technical request information.

What this website currently uses

The portfolio’s own application does not currently set account, shopping-cart, advertising or social-media tracking cookies, and no Google Analytics, advertising pixel or session-recording tool is configured in its application code. This does not mean that the hosting and content-delivery services receive no technical data.

Hosting or security infrastructure may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver and protect the site. These are distinct from optional advertising or visitor-tracking technologies. Provider behaviour can change and is not determined solely by the portfolio’s application code.

Website Carbon badge storage

The published About and Contact pages automatically load a Website Carbon badge. The badge is a supplementary feature and is not required to browse the portfolio. Its script is delivered by UNPKG and requests a carbon estimate from api.websitecarbon.com using the current page URL.

The badge stores the estimate and a timestamp in local storage on this website’s origin. Its key begins with “wcb_”, followed by the encoded page URL. This caches the result so it can be shown without requesting the same estimate on every visit.

The script normally refreshes a cached result when it is more than 24 hours old and you visit again. This is a refresh interval, not an automatic deletion period: the local-storage entry can remain until you clear website data or your browser removes it. It is not used by the portfolio to identify you for advertising.

Fonts, hosting and other websites

Inter and Space Mono are loaded through Google Fonts. Google states that its Fonts API does not set or log cookies, but font requests still transmit technical request information to Google.

Replit provides the hosting infrastructure and can provide traffic statistics derived from requests to the site. Browser storage is not the only way a hosting provider can receive usage information.

Following an external link may take you to a website that sets its own cookies or uses other technologies. Its own policies and controls apply there.

Your choices and consent

You can inspect, block or delete cookies and website data using your browser’s privacy settings. To remove the carbon badge cache, clear local storage or stored website data for this site; deleting cookies alone may not remove local storage. Blocking scripts or third-party resources may stop the badge or external fonts from loading.

The site does not currently provide a separate cookie-preferences panel. Clearing stored data does not necessarily prevent it being created again on a later visit to the About or Contact page while its badge loads automatically.

Continuing to browse is not, by itself, consent to non-essential device storage. Consent is required for storage or access that does not qualify for an applicable legal exception. A policy notice alone is not a substitute for that consent.
