Arthur Stovell

Graphic design that makes things clear.

I’m Arthur Stovell, a senior freelance graphic designer based in Shoreham-by-Sea, near Brighton. I help organisations turn their ideas into clear, considered visual communication — across brand identity, editorial, print and digital design.

One idea, across many formats

Good graphic design starts with understanding what you need to say and who needs to hear it. A report, a campaign and a website may have different jobs, but each should feel like it belongs to the same organisation. I bring typography, imagery, colour and layout together to make that happen.

My work spans publications, annual reports, campaign graphics, websites, signage and brand guidelines. Whether the brief is a single piece of communication or a wider visual system, the aim is the same: design that is useful, distinctive and consistent.

Editorial, print and digital design

Editorial design is about more than arranging words and images. It gives information a clear hierarchy, sets a pace and helps people find their way through a publication. The Yves Klein at Blenheim Palace book uses an image-led sequence and restrained typography to keep the focus on the artist’s work.

For Deforestation Free Finance, identity, reports and campaign graphics bring clarity to a complex environmental issue. These projects show how a strong graphic language can work across both detailed reading and public-facing communication.

A senior freelance designer, working with you

I have over 15 years’ experience working independently, in-house and with design studios, including Pentagram. I work with organisations of different sizes and am particularly drawn to environmental and purpose-driven projects.

The process is collaborative: understand the brief, develop a clear direction, refine the design and prepare it for its intended use. You can involve me in a new project or bring me into an existing team when you need experienced design support.
